Unkown switch

I've got a switch in the knee blocker just over the parking brake release that doesn't seem to do anything. It's an on-off type with a small white arrow arrow on it. I believe this is the location for the adjustable pedals but i don't have that option in this truck. There are wires that come from it an go into a loom under the dash but i haven't tried to trace them.



Any thoughts on what it's for?

If I remember correctly, all Dodge trucks come with all the wiring in the harnesses for all options. Apparently it saves a little money and a lot of time and hassle when assembling the vehicles by not having multiple types of wiring harnesses. imagin how much it would cost if someone put an ST wiring harness in a Laramie vehicle by mistake, then having to take it off the line and R&R the wiring harnesses.

You are probably correct in that it may be for the adjustable pedals.

Well i figured it out. As i was looking at the wiring in the new bed i noticed that each compartment had lights mounted in the top. I didn't know they were there, a nice surprise! So, I called Tom at Classy Chassis (the folks who built the bed) and asked how i turned them on. He said "Oh, i didn't tell you about them? There's a switch above the brake release for them. " :--)







They did such a top notch job that it looked like a factory installed switch. So, mystery solved.

I designed it to carry our soon to be ordered Host Yukon slide-in truck camper, which requires removing the gate. One option was to have the tailgate made with a "V" notch for a 5-wheel trailer but i never considered pulling a regular trailer...

I'm glad to hear you finally got your truck, and that is an awesome bed, and I like the fit on the 4500. With the bed being aluminum, is it heavy enough to ease the stiff suspension? I had to drive my 3500 C&C 1500 miles W/O the bed, from So. Ca. to Kansas, and I felt every imperfection in the road. My B&W Elite series bed is steel so it's heavy, and the empty weight was 9250 lbs. and with all the fuel, tools and ladders its over 10,500 lbs. It is a smooth riding truck considering the type of vehicle it is, and only the speed bumps will jar my only kidney.

After reading how stiff these trucks can be i was prepared for the worst, but it's not that bad. Almost like the suspension has about 1" of soft travel before it stiffens up. According to the builder the bed weighs around 950 lbs. Now it can get a bit hoppy with pot holes and such but it's reasonable most of the time.

I got the 6sp auto and 4:44 gears, LSD, PTO, 220 amp alt, power mirrors, manual transfer case and cloth seats. Pretty basic truck but i got it for $13k off sticker.
