forgot

gauges, TT, not RAM

I know someone hauling gas, LP gas, and anhydrous for a living. Is it so that when LP is in high demand (fall corn drying season, etc. ) there is some exception so that the drivers can run unlimited hours??? I realize that those haulers are not typically running interstate, but wondered about the regs. It has been so long since I was over the road, that I haven't paid any attention, and I don't log the occasional trip I make these days. Thanks! Ray

hours of service regs

Hey Ray, not real sure about this but here it goes. Hauling from point of harvest to storage or processing facility allows longer hours of service during harvest time. Weight restrictions are usually relaxed as well. Please don't qoute me on this as I don't have my little red book handy. I'll check tonight when I'm at work.

Or someone with more experience then myself will chime in.

Ag Hauling

Produce haulers see 49 CFR 395. 1 (l) the rules of 395. 3 (Hour of Service) shall not apply to drivers transportin ag commodities or farm supplies for ag purposes in a state is

1 - Limited to an area within 100 miles from source or distribution point.

2 - Is conducted during planting or harvesting seasons within such state.

Broad opinion -- Lp driver is not governed by hours of service regs if he meets 1 & 2 above.

Hope this helps,

Denny

Weight restrictions are not really relaxed it is just that will allow you to continue (with a ticket of course) other times of year you must unload if over 10%(?) before continuing.
