Here I am

unsubstantiated ford/cummins rumor

Thanks, TDR Staff

I've seen the big one

chevy 6.5-good or bad?

Counter man at the local NAPA told me something really interesting t'other day.
He done said that, beginning in 2005, Cummins will be supplying Ford exclusively with diesels, that Ford is dropping the Navistar, that Dodge is going to have to go with something else.

As the subject says, this is completely unsubstantiated rumor, rather unlike any others I've heard of late. As with all rumors and plans that are four years out, I'll believe what happens when it happens, and not a moment sooner.

Thought I'd start a new thread people can gripe about. #ad

Perfect timing fest3er, now that you are here did you ever resolve the four wheel anti lock brake problem with the speedo calibrater for the Rickson tire and wheels?? Just curious..... Pete

Cool, Ford owns Cummins again. According to the rumors, Ford has owned Cummins about 1000 times #ad

I'll buy a Cummins, whether it's got a Ford or Dodge around it... If it's in a GM product, I will have to pass. The sound of a 24V in an 2WD F350 dually does sound nice...

My wayward stepson(Ford salesman)just told me Ranger and Expedition will have a option for 4BT Cummins next year. The 4BT is already in the Rangers sold in South America.

Well informed source (insider) sez Dodge Ram/Cummins good through 2007.
All DC has to do is pay their bills!

Don't expect a Cummins in a light duty Ford pickup any time soon. The new 6. 0 will be out in 2003... . 310Hp/550ftlbs are the preliminary numbers. It is going to be backed up by an in house 5 speed auto. The camless version is suppose to make its debut in 2007. The Expedition will receive the 4. 5 liter V6 version of the PSD in late 2002 or early 2003. The F150 will receive it a year later. Estimates are 210/375 on that engine. Emissions are a problem with the 4cyl Cummins. The regs in 2007 rule it completely out without some major work. Its big brother in the Dodges will also have to receive some serious work. That is likely why the contract is good up to 2007... after that who knows. Ford is toying with the idea of a 4 cyl diesel in the Rangers/Explorers, but I have not heard from any reliable source as to what it may be. If gas keeps climbing we are going to be seeing a bunch of new diesel products out there on the market... CJ

The Union would be so lucky to get its members the wages and benifits that MB has in Europe.

COBRAJET - Wouldn't it be neat if the 4 cyl. was a VEE-FOUR, 3 liter, ??? I was hoping for the 210 hp, 375 #/ft V-6 in the Ranger though!!!! But even if it was in a SWB F-150 4X4 it would be fun!!
