238xxx miles.
I had just checked the oil level in it over the weekend, engine ran quiet, didn't have any unusual noises. unusual for me for what amounts to a beater was I really liked this car. got a spare car in the backyard, already called Ins Co and got Ins switched. tomorrow go to title agency and finish the deal.
Sorta odd when you look at the top photo that counterweight looks scorched and dry, but in the lower photo the adjoining counterweight looks oily/ more normal. Did the oil filter internally collapse/restrict flow?
It was from a neighbor's 88 Celica only three years old when it threw a rod on the highway. Don't know if they let the oil get low or something else caused the oil to sludge up. I bought the car, threw in a junkyard motor and drove it for years. Don't remember having any issues with the car. It was still going strong when I gave it to a friend. Toyota's were reliable (I don't know or care about the new ones), just not indestructible.
on edit: Yes the upper picture is upside down. The new software doesn't show the picture in the preview of the post. Fixed. Today the software shows the picture during the preview. The only thing I hate more than needless change is inconsistency!
Well very unusual for that car for sure. Glad it was not modified in any way, would not have lasted this long and with that many miles no help from Toyota on any type of assistance. Doubt it is worth putting a new motor in. Maybe time for a new Toyota or Honda.
