CTD has been rough running after start up. Been noticing it had been getting worse as temps started going down into the 30's. Just got much colder, first time this season, 22F, lots of white smoke, stalls easily.
Just want to pass on what I found. One of the two manifold heater grids was not getting the 12VDC upon command from the computer. I was able to fire the relay coil manually, still no 12V to one of the grids. I banged on it a bit, now it works fine (at least for now). I hooked up some monitoring lights to the grids. I found the way the system works is both grids are "on" during the "wait" cycle (10 secs below 66F), once the engine starts and is running, the computer turns them on/off separately, they don't run together, they alternate.
Looks like I'll need to replace a relay, anyone have a source besides a Dodge dearler ? Is it a Cummins part ?
