I'm game for this question...

The shortblock is basically the same on the '89-'97 12-valves in Dodge applications. In some cases a lot of the '98 12-valves have 24-valve blocks... . it's easy to spot these ones - they have two turbo oil return bosses on the righthand side of the block - where all other 12-valves only have one in the front...

The VE pump 12-valves have a different lift pump.

The VE pump 12-valves have different turbos.

The VE pump 12-valves have different heads to accomodate different sized injectors.

The VE pump 12-valves have a different pump mounting plate - this is one of the things you need to change when swapping in a p-pump.

There's probably a host of other things I have missed... but the short answer is that is has been done, it isn't exactly cheap and it isn't a mind boggling swap.

Prices for used pump gear/plate and other stuff varies heavily... . sometimes you get lucky. Let's put it this way... . if you do all the labor... . you might get away for a bare minimum of $800... . that's if you can find all the stuff DIRT cheap.

i saw this thread and was going to answer earlier, but lost track, k, here's what u have to do: U need to change the front gear case, injector lines, injectors or just raise the pop off pressure on your existing ones, p-pump and gear, can't remember if u need a diferent lift pump or not. The non intercooled VE trucks have diffenet injectors and heads, ... i would raise the pop off on these, the intercooled heads have the same size injectors and u can raise pop offs or go a inline pump 12v injector. I gotta roll but this is what comes to mind right now, ...

Reb. B added the rest of the stuff and corrected some of my inaccuracies.

I keep forgetting that the intercooled "VE" heads are virtually the same as the p-pump heads... .

And the lift pumps are much different.....
