Thought I would share my long term experience with my "EBC" rotors and "Diesel Brake" pads.
After more than 3 years use on the rotors, (they are dimpled and slotted), I can say they are a better upgrade than stock.
They have little wear, and haven't warped on me.
Some discoloration from heat, but I had that on the stocks.
The pads, (Hawks) finally wore out.
I seen where EBC started to make a pad specifically for our diesels.
It was their "Yellow Stuff" called "Diesel Pad".
Expensive, but I thought I would try them out.
Well, was a big disappointment.
They had the break-in coating on them which was good.
But I didn't notice any better breaking, actually worse.
Thought I would give them a chance to set in, but got worse the more I drove it.
Then they began to squeal, loud, all the time.
I removed them at about 250 miles only to find they were cracked, and began to crumble apart.
I contacted Brakes-R-Us where I bought them.
I was told where to send a pic of the pads to.
A rep for EBC said that this was "NORMAL WEAR", and posed no safety issues.
Needless to say, they were removed, and another set of Hawks installed.
I have went back and forth for over 8 months with EBC about the pads with no hope of resolving this issue.
And yes, they were still under warranty.
I posted this to warn other members of my personal experience with EBC pads, and the terrible customer service I received.
I would warn anyone to avoid EBC products, and avoid Brakes-R-Us also, as they could have resolved this problem on their own.
Below are 2 pics of the pads.
Decide if you would use pads that look like this after only 250 miles, and if you would consider this normal wear.
Sorry for such a long post.
