Just got a call from my dealer, they were going to put a new lift pump in tomorrow. But, both Federal Mogul and Cummins are each sending an Engineer to go over the truck and lift pump to see if they can determine what is causing the problem.

Federal Mogul is the manufacturer of lift pumps for the '02s and they have admitted that several pumps have been replaced.

Now the Engineers are going to (allegdely) go thru my truck with a fine tooth comb to try and find the cause. Is it the pump or is it something else that is causing the problem.

Just fix my TRUCK. Oh well, at least they are giving me a loaner.

Will post the findings when I know something.

Maybe they are looking for a reason to void your warranty?? :D :D , then they would not have to replace the pump.

I find it weird that they would send some guys to look at a failed lift pump, I did not think the lift pump was any different than the ones on the 01 and such. Let us know what they find.

Could this be a sign DC is finally acknowledging a problem exists? When I purchased my 2002 truck in May I asked the service manager about "the common lift pump problems" his reply was "what problems? We are unaware of any widespread problems". I think DC's policy has been deny, deny deny any lift pump problems exist

I agree it seems a little "fishy" they are sending some engineers to go over your truck. But then again maybe I'm just a little on the untrusting side when it comes to dealers & DC having good intentions and YOUR best intrest in mind.

Like JR2 said, keep us posted on how things turn out, maybe DC is finally going to step-up to the plate and start addressing the issue, meaning find the cause of the failures.

It was off to the Dealer this morning where I was met by the Reps. from Cummins and Federal Mogul. They hooked their gauges up and took the truck for a ride and said, yup, shows fp 4@ WOT, to low. So, they put on a new LP and it even shows a tad less

They then do some other test and said it is in the LP but do not know why. They took the LP pump with them to analize it and try to figure the problem, and Cummins is to contact me on the 24th.

In the meantime, I will be going to the U. P. next week, Cummins says drive it. I will, low pressure or no pressure.

This is one problem I will not walk away from until it is resolved, and I am confident that it will be resolved by Cummins.

Will keep all posted as things develop.
