Well Dodge is sending out a new short block to fix our dead engine.

What they found out when they took the engine apart was a burnt piston and scored cylinder.

About 2 weeks to get the parts and do the exchange.

I do not want to hurry them as I want a good job.

Interesting....

Please keep us informed as to the probable cause of the failue...

Was it your 98. 5 or your 2001? Were your EGT's too high? It doesn't look like you have any BOMBS on your truck.

Dead cummins

What they know it that the #1 injector was over fueling.

This caused the burning of the piston and over loaded the cylinder with fuel causing the damage to rings etc.

The rings scored the cylinder.

I just hope the head was not hurt as I do not think they are replace the head.

2001

This happened to our 2001.

It had 62K miles, had no problems until it died.

Its last 50 miles was SMOKING (blue/white) and started missing, then knocking.
