well, you all have read the issues i have had with my 04. 5. first the truck was in the shop for 20 days for bad injectors. dealer said it was fixed but it still ran rough on cold start. went back in and they blamed my problem on contaminated fuel. i'm almost positive they took the sample out of the water drain. no s#!t there is crap in there! thats what the canister is supposed to catch! so the truck came home. while i was waiting for the fuel sample to be anaylized the transmission crapped out on me! it would bog down and stall when i tried to stop. truck was towed to dealer. they dropped the pan and said the fluid was full of metal! they have to drop the transmission to inspect! BTW, truck has 13,000 easy miles. light towing. they said there is a 70 percent rule. if less then 70 percent of the transmission is good, they will rebuild it. if more then 30 percent is bad, i get a new transmission. they way i figure it i shouldnt have a rebuilt transmission at 13,000 miles!! it always shifted funny. it would shift 1, 2,3,4 then immeditly lock the torque converter. always felt strange. this is the worst vehicle i have ever owned! just wanted to vent... . james :(

The 70% rule is if the cost to repair exceeds 70% of the cost of assembly, you get new or reman. If anything at all inside besides clutches are hurt, you are looking at assembly.

James,

Sorry for your troubles. On the fuel thing, did you ever take a sample from your distribution tank? If I remember correctly, you said you had a farm tank that several trucks were using. If you filled up from the same batch, you should be able to argue the fuel issue.

Really feeling your pain. I'm beginning to think the competition could build their trucks in the former Yugo factory, using Yugo employees and kick DC's butt. I'm thinking it is only a matter of time before they start to feel this in their sales #'s

ALL I can say is, the newer 04', 05's must have changed a great deal, as my 03' has had vertually NO PROBLEMS at all, just a couple TSB's for Alt. Bracket and vibration in steering wheel.
