I am doing the swap from the second gen to the third gen trailer heated/power mirrors. My experiences so far.

The passenger side mirror requires a lot of grinding for removal of extra tabs. Doesn't fit all the way, but it is together and looks like it will work.

Drivers side goes together no mods.

The large spring is hard to keep compressed. The mechanics wire is not working for me, I keep breaking the wire. Not to mention the fact when you twist it together the knot has to be on top of the spring. It won't go in if it is on the side. I tied the spring together several times together and it keeps breaking. The plastic zip wires ties actually work but won't allow the spring to go into the mirror. I am going to try stainless steel mechanics wire and see if the that holds better.

Note that spring has a lot of force, I have seen it hit my 12 ceilings in my garage several times, use caution when playing with this thing.
