I went back to the dealer (wed. ) to get the final decision from SM &DM . They said if I give them my Banks box & promise not to put another one on , They would order a new CP3 and reinstate my warranty! :--)

Why aren't you having Banks fight this... they are always spouting off how their products won't void a warranty... at least they did a few years ago...

I'd look at how much your banks set-up costs. Then I'd look at how much they'll charge you for a new CP3. Then I'd decide whether thats a fair trade.

Of course the banks would have a 9mm hole through it before I gave it to them. Or at least plug it into 120V first (this lets the smoke out)

GIVE THEM the Banks stuff??????Or just remove it from the truck?

I might play along if we are talking removal. Then I would put some serious squeeze on Banks to take it back and refund your money. They said it wouldn't void the warranty, it did, they need to step up and either refund your money or fight DC to prove their claim that it doesn't void the warranty.

Sounds like an employee wants a free BOMB, cause I have never heard of the warranty being tied to confinscating(sp) the item...

I was shocked when he asked for the Banks box! They want $3,000 for the CP3 plus $300 labor!!! I would say the Banks Six Gun is about $700. I'm not sure because I bought a whole system. I have been on the phone with Banks & I will let everybody know.

I think this situation lets you know a little about Banks and D. C. /Dealer in question. I was told by Banks that their product in no way violated factory warranties. Now that I am a little more educated I know better, but in the fall of '04 I went for the line of crap. The six gun and guages are in a box on my workbench and the monster muffler has cracked welds on both ends. I'm done with Banks (except getting that muffler replaced).

If there is another dealer close by I would try taking it to them and see if they are a little more "performance mod" friendly. My dad just had to have all new injectors on his 600 and he had the sixgunner w/ speedloader, banks high ram, and afe stg 1 intake and they didnt say a thing about any of it and covered it with the warranty

$3300. 00

I got my '01's vp44 rebuilt better than new for $1300 and change complete! Including all labor to remove, replace and test.

I thought CP3's were less than than vp44's from Cummins? Cummins wanted $1800 for the vp44. I know dealers are usually higher than others but yikes! It would be interesting to see if other dealers charge that amount and if not, I'd see what DC had to say about them.

I was pretty sure someone told me that the CP3 was about $700 from Cummins...

That sounds about right. It seems to me when the '03's first came out I asked how much they were and it was around $450. But the vp44 was $1500 back then too. Either way, $3000 is one heck of a lot of markup.

I had a friend who bought a new 1967 Chevelle SS396... . he put in a 4. 10 rear end and a Holley 3 Barrel carburetor on a high rise intake, plus a set of headers. When he sent a piston throught the side of the block, Chevy would not honor his warranty... ...

I was at Autozone last week a a young guy tried to get a couple of plug wires replaced under warranty... they had plier teeth marks on them and the ends were frayed and looked like they exploded. The guy behind the counter said he could not warranty them because they had been abused... they customer yelled and screamed, but ultimately bought two new plug wires.

I put a K&N filter system on an older F150 and it rubbed through the wiring causing a false anit-lock brake lite to come on... . cost me $300 even though it was under warranty... . it was not Ford's fault that the K&N bracket broke.

Where is this going (in spite of Massey-Ferguson)????

I think it is unfair to the manufacutrer to buy a product, highly modify it, and then want repairs under a warranty when something goes wrong...

The vehicle is designed by the factory engineers to a specific set of criteria... . if the vehicle does not meet this criteria, then it is the manufacturer's problem and cause for warranty work.

I had a 2000 Ram 1500 with a 360 V8... it had and MSD ignition, headers, oversize tires and wheels, a cat back exhaust, etc. , etc. , etc. When the transmission wnet out, I expected to pay $2300... . I did luck out and Dodge replaced it under warranty... I would not have complained if I had to pay for it (I know how I drove it).

I have a couple of mods on my Ram, and if I am denied repairs under warranty, I won't be surprised or upset... I made a conscious effort to change the condition of the truck... not Dodge's fault.

I do agree that if I change the torque converter that I bought the warranty on the transmission, the the warranty on the air conditioner should remain intact... . here is where I would scream Massey=Ferguson... ...
