I need some advice on an exhaust install

I have a 96 EGR equipped automatic. I am looking to add the TST #5 plate as well as an EGT, boost and transmission temp guage. The EGR tube will be tended to. Due to cost, I will install the DTT TC and VB, in about 2 months.



Based on what I've read on the TST web site the automatic transmission can not handle the new torque the engine will put out. Is it possible to for the transmission to last two months until the transmission is upgraded.



I will not be doing any heavy duty towing, mainly street and highway driving. I just can't handle the lack of power any longer!!
 
The transmission should be OK as long as you aren't towing heavy loads. The trans itself is quite strong. The problems are lower pressures, new VB solves that and the TC has too much slippage and you are out of the torque range almost before you get rolling. New TC solves that. TC lockup clutch can be ruined but mainly from towing heavy with high power and no mods to trans. Try to let it shift gently into lockup and don't use a manual lockup switch for acceleration and you should be OK until you get your new VB and TC.
 
I think it's very possible for your transmission to last several years with the up grades you plan if you just drive sensibly. No more flooring it on hills or takeoffs.

Check my signature to see what kind of truck I have - I've been towing my 12,000 lb. trailer for almost two years with no mods. to the transmission,except for replacing the leaky lines. I use the manual button to shift into O. D. at a higher rpm. So far,knock on wood, no problems.
 
See my signature on my above post also. I towed a 14K fifth wheel for 3 years with TST 230/605 until I got my transmission mods. I got the mods primarily to be able to get my trailer moving faster from a stop, I got sick of all the churning without moving. My stock TC cover was heat blued but the lockup clutch was not slipping yet while towing. Biggest problem was large RPM drop at lockup, that's what is hard on it.
