I am looking at upgrading the power in my truck some, but have a few questions.

First I already know that I need guages and I want one of the combo boost/egt guages, but I want to mount it in the dash where the foglight and OD on/off switch would normally be. I dont have factory foglights or an auto transmission so that spot is open. I have a Geno's Garage catalogue and they have the guage want, and they have a picture of a guage in the dash where I want to put mine but a can't find a mounting bracket for that spot. I've looked at Geno's website and others with no luck.

Also after the guages go in I want to change fuel plates, but I'm trying to decide between a #10 and #11. Will a stock clutch be able to handle a #11 or should I stay with the #10 to keep my clutch alive?

My last question is I can rev my engine between shifts (never tried it just idling) to about 3000 rpm's. Is this normal or has a 3k GSK Kit already been installed. I have heard of people only being able to rev to about 2600. Does installing the 3k kit mean you can only rev to 3k.

Thanks for all the help and sorry about the long post.

I don't know about the plate/clutch question, but the 3K GSK is for going to 3K under power. (all the trucks should make 3k in neutral--Doesn't hurt it a bit. Go ahead and hold it there) Most trucks when under load start to defuel somewhere over 2000 rpm. The 3k kit keeps the fuel flowing until 3k.

Whether the clutch lasts all depends on what kind of shape it's in now. It might hold up for a while with a #11 if you don't hammer it, and it's still in good shape. It won't last long with a #10, if at all. The 10 provides considerably more fueling, and HP), than the 11. What are you going to be doing with the truck, towing, racing, etc. ? That will help you decide which plate you want. You are also going to need to add more air, if your airbox, turbo, and exhaust are still stock.

WMonroe,

To answer your question about Gov Springs, I think your Gov Springs are stock. I have the 215 hp engine like yours and with the stock Gov Springs it would rev to about 3100rpms. The dyno tach and my dash tach both read the same. IMO the 215 has good factory Gov Springs. Mine did not cut fuel back til 2800 rpms. After installing 3k Gov Springs I have seen 3500 rpms regularly. I seen the tach go to 3600rpms one time in the lower gears. Rpms this high inspired me to stop by Cummins and order 60lb valve springs to replace the stock 35lb valve springs. With the 215hp having pretty good Gov Springs from the factory, I was more impressed with the difference a AFC kit made. The factory AFC spring is way to strong and this makes the 215's alittle lazy in the lower rpms.

Right now the truck is mostly for just a daily driver with only some light towing- 5000 or under. I would like to improve off the line acceleration without hurting the towing or hauling power.
