Upgrade seats for 1st Gen reg cab

Looking at changing out the bench seat in a 91 1/2 reg cab. We're considering checking out possibilities at a big truck salvage yard for small frame air ride seats. The plan is to install two air seats, and build a small console to go between the two, something along the line of the 2nd gen trucks.



If this idea dosen't pan out, another possibility, find a set of 2nd gen seats and try to install the full package, including the center seat/console.



Anyone tried this, or have suggestions on other seats (high dollar aftermarket ain't an option).

BIGGEST complaint with many aftermarket seats for trucks like ours relates to thicker seat backs, and a seat construction that prevents the seat itself from being allowed to adjust as far back from the steering wheel as the stock bench seats do - not good for tall guys...



The fella who just serviced my 727 transmission and installed my double deep transmission pan has a truck EXACTLY like mine, including color, and HE was wishing he had the stock bench seat like mine in his instead of the aftermarket bucket/console seats that his came with as a used vehicle...



Sort of an eye opener, since I *thought* I wanted the bucket seats in my truck... Maybe I oughta try switching with the guy...
