Well, we finally got it together, and installed two sets of the stainless steel braided fuel lines today. Two other Rams went home to install them another day.

The install is really quick, I didn't time it, but seemed like about an hour, with time for "talking"! Everything fit well and the finished product looked good. We did spill a little bit of diesel, so you might consider a few extra rags to soak it up as you remove the old lines.

We also straight-piped another Ram... BBOWE's got the treatment. Evan, he brought a brand new sawzall to the party... you now have competition!

We had ten trucks show up for this event, with a nice BBQ. The chef (thanks, James) did an excellent job of flipping burgers!

Thanks again to Vaughn for hauling all of the fuel lines over the pass for us!

Did you use the 120degree fittings that were talked about earlier in the week? Glad to hear it only takes 1 hour

The 120 degree fittings were used on the 200-2001 models. The 98. 5-99 models use 90 degree fittings. We did one truck of each!

Everything went great, and we had MikeR's converted in about 40-45 minutes. Mike's used the 120deg fittings since he has a 2000. Got to take a spin in his rig afterwards to test 'em out and see how they worked with the Stage IIs #ad

John took a set to install on his '98 but we couldn't get him to BOMB it there in the gravel. He'll install his in the comfort of his own garage. The set designed for the '98-99 trucks will fit his rig with the PrimeLoc filter kit.
Had a great day but missed having Evan make it--I guess we can let the NW Prez get away with it this time #ad

Man, I had a blast! It was great seeing everyone again. #ad
As soon as I receive the five adaptor fittings I can install the trick Aeroquip fuel lines on my Ram. Thanks again Vaughn! #ad
Even though Evan was M. I. A. (we all missed you) we lined up your (our) next BOMBing mission... gauge installation in Terry Schwab's Ram. A good excuse for more fun and another BBQ! #ad

Thanks to everyone for a fun day! #ad

To all NW BOMBers... . looks like we will have several gauge installations to do. Terry's buddy from Gig Harbor wants to do them, and Heaterexpert was asking questions on it. We need Evan to sharpen up his drill bits and grease up the drill! (Better bring the sawzall, too... never know what will come up or OFF!)
Anyway, Evan, start looking at the calendar and we will plan our next BOMB Day!

Thanks Rob for hosting the RAM fuel line install, my RAM felt a little lonely as the ONLY 12V in the group on Sunday. It is always fun to see what others have done, or in the process of doing to their RAM, and to get feedback from the group on what works and what doesn't.

Going to order those gauges tomorrow along with the new 3 guage A pillar mount that will fit over the tweeter.

Looking forward to getting the gauges in, and then let the BOMB'n begin #ad

Hey Piers and Joe (Donnelly), can you believe it? Terry has a box stock '98 12v Ram. That was no typo! #ad
Probably the only one left in North America! He's eyeing those TST cam plates though. #ad

Well I got the new fuel lines installed yesterday afternoon. Things went OK with one exception, the supply line that goes from the frame to the lift pump should have had a straight fitting on it instead of the 90. With the 90 degree fitting it was difficult to get it to fit around the dipstick tube. Went for a ride after the install and I feel that the truck pulls stronger all the way up to 3300 rpm. Thanks for pulling things together Vauhgn.

I think n7gxz hit on a solution and I'll order a couple straight fittings to try. If that works good, I can trade you guys out for your 90s, and I can use those when making new kits since I've gotten a few emails from other interested folk. Will keep you posted.

Due to the fact that the weber bowl fitting is normally a very low demand item, they are now on 2 week backorder from Aeroquip (at least according to my vendor) because all of a sudden we're snapping 'em up like there's no tomorrow #ad
. Those Aeroquip guys are probably wondering what the heck is going on #ad

Vaughn

I'm glad I could help you out with the redesign. When you get a couple of straight fittings let me know and I'll talk to you about the swap out. I'm surprised that you had not seen this problem.

Wow, the last stock P pump in the country!
He must not want to hurt hs warranty #ad

Dodge warranties that his truck will run like crud for 100K. How can anyone put up with a doggy truck so long? #ad

Watch him get wood holding a TST plate, hehehe. You know what will happen if he sees some 370 hp injectors or Piers governor springs!
C'mon, guys, contribute to his delinquence. Where's the "Punk" when we need him?

Kevin,
I was aware of the dipstick interference, I used a 45deg on my truck and thought the 90deg would work better than it did. They went in without much interference on Big Joe's and MikeR's trucks, but some trucks may be tougher than others. I bent the bracket slightly for my dipstick tube then loosened the nut on the intake plenum to force it to a slightly different angle and that did the trick. I should have showed you that before you left Sunday.
The good thing is, it's pretty easy to trade fittings--you just unscrew the end part and swap it out, instead of having to totally remove the fitting from the end of the hose (a pain!).

Vaughan... How many 120* fittings did you need on the 2001. .
Just ordered my new ride today and will need to change the ends off my old 98. 5 lines when I swap them out
Thanks Gary

Gary--update your signature with all the details on the new rig!! #ad

You'll need 2 120deg fittings. One of your hoses will have to be refitted since 1 of them won't be the right length. The one the 120deg fittings go on will only have 1. 5" of braided hose showing between the fittings, instead of 10" or so for the '98-'99 trucks. The one from your filter canister to the injection pump may be slightly short but should work. Maybe HVAC will get you set up, he has gotten into this too and may trade what you have for the proper hose(s).

What is the ETA on your new ride???

Many thanks to Vaughn MacKenzie for the outstanding fuel lines #ad
and to Rob Hanson for taking the time out of his Great-grandfathers 91st Birthday celebration, to install these lines. Rob was suppose to supervise me #ad
, but the smell of diesel got to him and I couldn't keep a wrench out of his hand! #ad

Great meeting you Rob! Looking forward to seeing you again. Thanks again! #ad
