Hey everyone,

My truck just rolled 115k. Deleted for 85k using smarty, EFI live the last 10k. I got a larger than expected tax return so I am looking to do some minor upgrades to increase the longevity of my truck as I plan to keep it for the next 5 10 years.

What are some of the Fuel systems everyone uses and why? How easy was the installation? Do you have part numbers for what you purchased?

Right now I am looking at the BD max flow and Fass 150gph. Is a Sump kit recommended?

Sump are only recommended on race trucks. Pulling fuel from a sump is just pulling any crap that is on the bottom of the tank into the system. Best way is modify the existing basket to bypass the pump.

I have been and still using the stock fuel system from the tank to the fuel filter. I have installed a Big Line kit from Glacier Diesel. This was routed from the stock fuel filter through an additional 2-micron (not absolute) fuel filter and then this is plumbed into the CP3 on my 2008. This was installed at 30,000 miles and I now have 105K on the OD. The primary fuel (5 micron FS2 design) filter is changed every 15,000 miles and the secondary every 30,000 miles. This is all that is required if you are using stock injectors since the extra capacity fuel flow from the pump will be underutilized and you are just wasting money.
Now if you increase the injector flow say 50 to 100 HP over stock than the increase fuel flow pump would be required.
Just my $0.02.

Well said Jim! *

I'll 2nd the Big Line Kit. Easy install. Well worth it for the filtering options. Fleetguard, Donaldson, and Cat all have filters that'll work with it.

Thank you all for the added information.

I recently got a fass 95gph system for my birthday from the wifey and a sump kit that I found on amazon. For those of you that have installed a sump kit, ( even though its only recommended for race trucks). What did you do with the return line?

 I have been reading the instructions in prep for install tomorrow and I see the bulkhead fitting on top with the supply and return lines. Do i just move my Supply line to the sump and leave the return line connected to the bulkhead fitting up top?

Jim I've got a question? How's that in-line kit from Glacier Bay. Do u like it and does it do it's job?

Yes; the Big Line kit from Glacier Diesel has worked excellent for me. I change out the secondary fuel filter every 30,000 miles and is replaced with a new Fleetguard fuel filter FF5320. I have no complaints.

Doesn't the intake on stock and aftermarket pumps drawing from the bottom of the tank?

Yes but there are a couple differences. The fuel pump can't pull the last 1/8-1/4" of the tank which keeps them from pulling the crud off the bottom. In addition they draw through a strainer. A sumptuous pulls in that last bit on the bottom and since it is lower than the bottom it is guaranteed to pull anything on the bottom.

You might also look into AFE's fuel system,it won an award at sema and is made right here in So Cal.The pick up comes from the factory basket with a supplied tube that replaces the oem pump.
