Good move.

This might spark some debate, but IMHO it's just a matter of time before they either phase out the 2500 series or come up with something more heavy-duty than the 3500 and renumber everything. Kind of like how they appear to be phasing out the regular cab in some configurations.

This 3500 rides smoother than the previous year 2500, and the cost isn't that much more. Haven't driven an 03 2500, but I can't imagine the ride being much, if any, softer than the 3500.

I test drove both the 2500 and the 3500. I couldn't tell any difference between the two so I went with the 3500.

I've been thinking the same thing for a long time too. I think the only reason the 2500 exists is that it can legally drive on some parkways and such (I know there are a couple in NYC) which have a GVW limit, and the 2500's 8800 lbs sneaks in under it. . Other than that, I don't see why they bother.

David,

Some towns won't let you park a 10,000 GVW in your own yard (believe it or not) and the srw 3500 lets them have a heavier truck. Your post about the thruway made me want to mention another stupid law. I sure love the extra freight I have to pay for the drw's on an empty pickup truck at the tolls, too!

what are the diffences b/t the 2500 and 3500 srw? such as ride, brakes, frame, springs, etc. this may sound stupid but i dont know exactlly what i paid for. :)

From what I understand the 3500 srw is just the old 2500 with the Camper Package, they are just calling it a 3500 now. You notice that the camper package is not even an option anymore. It just amounts to heavier springs, breaks and everything are the same.

bull,

i wanted them trust me but the boss put her foot down and was not kidding. when i said i was getting the training wheels she looked it me like:confused: but then she caught on and this is what insued:-{} #@$%! but i am still lucky to be buying the badest truck dodge or any truck mfg. has ever made in srw. :-laf

I know what you mean. The wife won't even drive mine. Doesn't even want to ride in it. I picked the perfect truck :D Sounds like you are getting a great truck. You have come a long way in a short time (from maybe getting a used 2001 to a brand new 2003) way to go!!!

i have come along way hehehe. i did not know if anyone had noticed. this decision cost me ($6000 d/f b/t used 02 and new 03... . no brainer) these new rams are something else. i drove one and that was it. not to hurt any 2nd gen's feeling but what an improvement to say the least. the only thing that is the same on these trucks is the name "ram"..... oh yea i almost forgot bad lift pumps also :-laf

sounds like these trucks are having a couple of minor troubles but that is what the 7/70 and 3/36 is for... . no big deal. i am not going to bomb this truck b/c of warranty issues... that is unless i will be able to get away with just an ez... will ez fry the stock clutch? will ez void warrany? will a 2in leveling kit void the warranty?
