A good freind of mine just bought a early 04 2 wheel drive with an auto. .

Nice truck but he needs some more go... So here we go... ... figured we would start with gauges then work on a box ...

What is the safe upgrade with the stock trans and what kind of mods are being done??? Also any upgrades to the stock transmission to help???

Just looking for some advice. . I see alot of converstions about different products, just looking for reliable proven HP. .

BTW... He tows a small trailer once and a while but mostly runs empty...

thanks for the help... ...

Is it a 47RE or a 48RE transmission? The 48RE will handle about 100 extra horses. The 47RE probably not much more that 50.

An Edge EZ, VA,or Ramifier would be good choices.

excuse my ignorance but how do you tell the difference???

I think it will tell you on the sticker in the glovebox or under the hood. If not, take you VIN number to the dealer and he should be able to look it up.

ALL 04'S WERE 48RE'S WHETHER IT WAS A 555 OR 600

V/B, TORQUE CONVERTER, FRT BAND, HARDENED SHAFTS, FLEXPLATE,

BETTER CLUTCHES. THE LIST GOES ON BUT START WITH CONV AND V/B
