Thinking of upgrading 2002 2500 4x4 Automatic with filter, exhaust system, gauges and small chip. Live in Hawaii (short trips) and tow boat for some great diving year round. Want the suggestions on what brand of diesel upgrades for novice mechanic?

I would consider some DD3's before a box. Injectors tend to be easier on the stock autos. Otherwise, be ready to upgrade the auto.

DTT is the way to go in my opinion. If you don't want to upgrade the transmission with just a vb/update kit, then go with a set of 275RV injectors, airfilter, and a pusher-pump. :)

Id go with a DTT VB,and an Edge EZ for now,if you want more,id add a set of Rv 275 injectors,no more than that for a stock trans if your towing.

There are a lot of outstanding trans stuff by different companies, the problem is picking one! I chose DTT and it has done everything I wanted. Whether unloaded or towing, it has performed up to my expectations and probably beyond. Can't go wrong with them.

R Antonio,

For a small power upgrade, I would suggest an Edge EZ.

This will give a very noticeable power increase and make the truck a whole lot funner to drive.

Although a stock transmission can handle this power addition for a while, I would suggest atleast a valve body upgrade to hold you over (until you want more power!) this way you prevent slippage of the torque converter, and keep debris out of the rest of the transmission.

As for transmission's.

I recommend checking out www.atsdiesel.com

or give them a call 800 949 6002 ask for Clint or Don.

Both are great to deal with.

Good luck!

Thanks for all your suggestions/advices! Seems that sooner or later, transmission upgrades WILL be no option. Just wanted upgrade on truck for EFFICIENCY. How about a high flow air filter, whole exhaust system and gauges? Looking at ATS or Western Diesel.

For what its worth, I just installed a Rip Rooks

4 in exhaust system with no muffler. It is an awesome sounding system, went on perfectly and with no problems. He also sells muffler with them as well if you want somthing a littlle quieter. Just my opinion for what ever its worth!
