My truck is pretty much stock except for straight pipe, afe intake, edge juice, raptor 100. I'm looking to get 400-450 rear wheel horsepower. I would like to know what combo of engine parts would work well together to make this truck a good daily driver. Also I would like to be able to tow around 6500lbs once in a while without burning my truck down. Any advice would be a great help.

Also my transmission needs help (47re) soon. I'm scared to turn up the edge past level #4 and I only go past level #1 when passing on the highway. Would I be able to get away with just a torque converter and valve body combo? I have no plans to sled pull or do any boosted launches.

For a rough, general comparison - check out my sig.

Mine still behaves like a stocker - but tows our 24 ft, Kit 5er as tho' it wasn't there...

You got 418hp with just 1. 6 injectors and a comp? Am I missing something? I thought you would need a turbo upgrade to keep egts down for towing your 5er.

YUP - same HP/TQ 2 different years dyno runs, and with the same equipment - except that the Smarty I had stacked with the Comp the first year's run was removed for the second one - smoother, more controllable power without the Smarty, and no EGT or other undesirable issues from over fueling. With the current setup as listed in my sig, I can tow our 5er up any grades encountered so far in the California Sierra - or the Oregon ranges - as much throttle as my conscience and the road will allow - and never see over 1150 degrees EGT.

This setup, on my truck - driven as we do - is as perfect a balance as we could ever ask for or expect!

I put a hybrid turbo on and probably would have been better with stock. I manage ok now, but had to learn to drive it all over again with the 5er in tow. The bigger turbo moved the torque curve up in the RPM range. The stock turbo will spin faster and probably will do better in the end. I'm not unhappy with the setup, but was surprised at the results. Try all your other mods first. Change the turbo only as a last resort.

getting the trans done was the 1st big mod I did to my truck. I took it to a guy that specializes in rebuilding chrylser trannies, got the torque convertor, valve body, shift kit and kevlar bands and synthetic ATF, and has run great for almost 4 yrs with the mild upgrades I have on the truck, happy with the power it puts down, want to get it dynoed somewhere at some point.

love my truck and my Goerend transmission, comes with 100k mile warranty, I pull 30k sometimes with no problem, I leave my Edge on #3 or #2 when pulling, I did have the radiator pulled and cleaned
