Hey everybody. I wanted to ask a couple questions about the fuel system.

First question is: I would like to install a pusher pump so I don't have to worry as much about the lift pump issues, but I am not positive about the fuel lines. Is there a section of rubber line that you all are cutting out to install these, or is it a steel line that I will need to cut? Also, is there a return line? If so, will I be able to tell easily which is the feed and which is the return?

The second question has to do with checking fuel pressure. I have heard people mention of checking it before and after the filter. My question is, where are the schrader valves located to do the check? I located one today, but really couldn't tell if it was the one before the filter or after.

Thanks in advance for any help.

lmills, you have two Schrader valves, one is post filter and one is pre-filter. The pre-fliter Schrader is located at the inlet to the fuel filter, on the back of the housing. The post filter Schrader is located at the inlet to the VP44 injection pump, just follow the hardline from the bottom of the fuel filter to the pump and you will see it, nestled in a banjo bolt.

If you want to mount the pump near the fuel tank, you will need to cut the inbound hardline. Becareful because the return hardline is also there. Get under the truck and follow the inbound fuel line from the existing pump back to the tank and mark it before you cut.

The inboud line.....

is the larger of the two. If memeory serves me correctly, it is on top. If you have not already looked through the thread "Pumps, lines and whatnot" there is a lot of valuable information in there for anyone considering "modifying" the factory fuel delivery system.

It is fairly long, so plan for a long session in front of the screen.

pusher pump

You put the pusher pumpon the line heading back into the tank isnt that the return line. Is their a pump in the tank or are they all external where is the lift pump?
