I have the stock single CD radio (RBK?) in my 03 2500 and would like to get a bit more volume and better bass / treble or better yet an EQ while retaining the stock look, feel and connection harness of a Dodge unit. I was considering swapping it out for one of the better models from a 2003 or newer truck if I can find one in nice shape or NOS. Can I keep the stock speakers and is it worth trying to do this? If so what model would work best (RAZ, etc. )? If I have to rip out all the speakers and add an additional amp to make a better Dodge unit work properly, I'll probable leave everything as is or go completely aftermarket. Thanks far any info.

Be careful buying a used radio as Dodge changed the plugs at various times for various models. Just make sure you get the right flavor for yours.

Wife has an RBQ six-disc plus mopar amp in her Jeep Liberty and loves it. But I'm pretty sure all of the RBQ's have the new style plugs, and not sure what the 03's have.

i replaced mine with an aftermarket crutchfield. i don't know how you can buy a dodge radio cheap enough and be competitive while gaining features and not having compatibility issues cross model years.

i also swapped speakers in the front doors, but honestly couldn't tell the difference between factory and fancy after market ones.
