I think this might be a new product from Dodge. Because it says pre-order. But that's exactly what I did. I pre ordered it. It should be very handy with my bed cover... . It looks easy to install as well. You can look at the instructions ahead of time on this site...

I added the electric tailgate lock to my 2011 when I got it in January. Make sure that the install instructions have the year truck that you have. The lock kit that I got had Rev. 1 of the manual and it did not cover the 2011 MY. I found Rev. 3 on the internet and it had the 2011 MY. Dodge changed the wiring in the TIPM.

The Mopar electric tailgate lock will only work in the 4th gen's. There are some aftermarket ones that work in the 2nd and 3rd gen's.

Ok I installed mine Sunday. Works great. There is a difference in the supplied instuctions. The instructions have the wrong colored wires listed. The harness comes with a black and red wire. So the red wire goes with the Tan/Light blue wire and the black goes with Tan/Dark blue wire. Here is a link that has picture by picture install. The directions are very good (other than the mislabeled harness wire colors. ) Here is a thread with step by step directions.

My whole tailgate is electric, I have a key fob with up and down, works up to 75 feet away. And when its closed, you can't open it. lock is disconnected
