I love my US Gear overdrive. If you search the forums, you should find plenty of information on them.
You can also check out my article from TDR #47, page 162.
I saw a fuel mileage improvement of about 1. 5-2. 5 mpg, but, as I said in the article, the best thing you can do to improve your mileage is to slow down.
In that article, I ran the numbers to see about how long it would take to pay back the cost of one of these units. At $1. 70 per gallon (wasn't that great?) you would probably never pay for an overdrive. At $3. 00 per gallon, you might pay for one in 5-10 years if you drive a lot of miles per year.
The advantage to an overdrive is the ability to split gears and the slight noise reduction in top gear, not the savings.
If you get one, you'll love it. It won't pay for itself.
