I just scored the subject exhaust brake off ebay without the electronic parts. I cleaned it and put power on the solenoid and it works fine.

What I'd like to do is (using relays and whatever else is required) make it work with a gearsplitter type push/pull switch mounted on the shifter. From reading I've learned the pull on switch only needs to be energized for a couple of seconds then the hold on switch should come on. One poster stated max load was 30 amps, another said 60 amps?

I'm thinking that if I knew squat about electronics a trip to Radio Shack and I'd be in business. Anyone attempted this, or know how.

Thanks, RR

If you find out... let me know. . I did call them and got nowhere. Not that they didnt help but they just dont offer that option. What I did was to mount the key pad on my gear splitter that is on my shifter...

Not the best way of doing it but it does put it where I can get to it. .

I think what you are going to have to have is the control modgel the activates it all. That little box is very necessary. All the electrical valves are controled there.

Turbo, you may very well be correct. However I'm having a hard time believing there's not a low tech way to actuate the solenoid.

The easy thing would be to call US Gear up and have the factory parts shipped.

Hopefully one of our higher IQ guys has a homegrown solution.

RHARVEY, see below. I posted this in the "Other" forum.

I'm struggling here. Totally out of my element. I need to find a relay to trigger a 12v solenoid that has pull on winding with only a 2 second or so duty cycle, then a 100% duty cycle open set of windings.

I'm thinking both sets could be energized initially, then the pull on windings drop out after a second or two.

Would be great to do this with one relay. I've looked online and I'm not comfortable reading the specs. There's a very high likelyhood I'd order the wrong item.

So, if anyone has a vendor that can help, or can provide a specific item number or link to a relay, I'd be greatful.

Thanks, RR

My (and my brothers current best thoughts).

e-brake

I did mine th easy way. I used a master control for the relay coil to power all the coil relays through switches. Then take power from it through a switch to the coil then to ground. this turns on a relay in the engine compartment. A 5 A fuse for the coils and a 15 amp fuse for the exhaust brake I think.

The power comes through the fuse to the coil of the exhaust brake and then to ground. Take the grounds to a good ground point by the battery. I have two pressure senders on either side of the fuel filter so these are on the common grd point taken to grd by battery.

As for the the type of switch you have I would need to look at the schematic of it to tell. Sorry. :)
