Noise towing 13k...

CIPA Mirror / Blown Fuse

I had an Overdrive US Gear on my 98 3/4 ton dodge and loved it. I did get a denied warranty from a dodge dealer because of the US Gear. The 5th gear was out on the NV4500 and the dealer denied the extended warranty.

Get it!!!!! Oo. You'll love it at any cost (Well, almost any cost ;) )

I have had one on my '99 3500 for right at 100K miles and have had to replace only the drive motor that shifts the gears. I have an O/D unit with 3. 55 rear gears and it hauls my ALFA (12K+) beautifully. I will be taking the rig to Alaska this summer and when I return, I will be looking for a new CTD with a six speed manual (the present one is a five speed) only because I want a new truck. A US Gear O/D will be installed ASAP. The gear split makes the selection easy for both up and downhill use. The E-brake (Mopar/Jacobs) especially benefits from the 10 speeds available at the touch of a button, so to speak. BTW... I am or was... . ruthless with the unit and when, at 80K+ miles I had the repair work done, the mechanic examined the O/Ds guts and pronounced it "Good as new". :D Another BTW... . the factory support is A-one, excellent, too good to be true... etc.

I agree, I had one on a 96 with a TST plate and a exhaust brake--after losing 3-4 gear vendors and one with just a few hundred miles on it somone finally clued me in that the exhaust brake was taking the od unit out so I switched to the us gear unit--loved the fact that I had no more failures plus I could split the low range gears to if I wanted

Dad has had a US gear Under drive in his ford for 3 years and tows a 40' 5er 19,000lb trailer and never had any problems, he loves it

i told him he would not need it if he had a CTD :-laf :-laf

As most on here know, I've had mine for 4 years. As per my sig, I tow 15K and would not want to tow without it. The price is steep, but the results are for sure. The split between gears is about 600 RPMs. And on the five speed that is a very good thing. You will have to get used the shifting, but the operation and the ruggedness of the unit is unparalled. I don't know the 6 speed 5600 so can't comment on the necessity of the unit on that transmission. If the splits are right you shouldn't need the splitter, but I don't know.

Best of luck.
