This has been talked about before in Montana and North Dakota for a few years now. This is great news and I hope we start drilling today.



Now, that said I must make this comment:



If the tree huggers go there, what will they hug??

The only trees in North Dakota are the ones that mark sections of land. :-laf:-laf:-laf

There was another forum about this oil find. The 4. 3 billion barrels is a very very conservative number. It has been figured anywhere from 4. 3 billion to 400 billion barrels, but most are pegging it around 200 billion barrels of recoverable oil. Just as a comparison Saudi Arabia has proven reserves of 260 billion barrels. The good thing is that the tree huggers can't stop it, it's too late. They were already pumping 100,000bpd(barrels per day) in '07. They expect that to rise to 250,000bpd in '08 and 1-2 million bpd in 4-6 years. Marathon Oil company is drilling 300 new wells there this year, more to come as more "Evil Oil Companies" get up there and invest in the infrastructure. Now the next step is BUILD SOME REFINERIES!

Well thats good cuz I was just about to say they would probably say there is danger to some sort of ground beetle or some BS.

Thanks, I had seen that before but just didn't recall this quote: Marathon Oil company is drilling 300 new wells there this year must have missed that, sounds like impressive activity.

Matt, that information about Marathon oil was on another news article I was reading about the bakken formation. Here's the other one.

All the oil in the world will do us no good without the refineries to process it, as stated by a previous post. Arizona Clean Fuels, Yuma
has been trying to build a new refinery for the past few years and has has met one road block after another. Oh well.....
