Do You Know Where Your Truck Was Made? I Recently Just Happen To Look At The Inside Of My Door And It Was Made In Mexico. I Thought I Was Buying American Made. Has Any One Noticed A Difference In One Made In Usa Versus Mexico?

out of all my trucks the one from st. louis was the one with the most problems. hate to say it but it is the truth.

Both my 1996 3500 dually and my current 2002 truck were made in Mexico. They're probably two of the best-assembled vehicles I've ever owned, and I've been buying cars and trucks since the 1960's.

Seems that US ones do have more problems. I would rather have one, and do, assembled in Mexico.

Anyone notice if this is the case with the ball and u-joint problems? Are these problems more prevalent in US built trucks?

I had also heard the paint was better as Mexico doesn't have to adhere to EPA regs. Any truth in that?

My truck was made in mexico also. No quality issues yet. I do have a slight vibe though at 70-75 miles an hour. Other than that, this has been the best new truck I have every owned by far,no trips back to the dealer. I have about 17,000 mile on the od. coobie Oo.

There are numerous threads and comments about poor paint durability, rock chip susceptability, etc. -- including the Mexico trucks.

Also while airing up this AM, I noticed my General Ameritrac rubber is also made in Mexico.

Overall, I've been very pleased with the assembly quality of my truck.

Me, too ;)! My 94 CTD was made in Mich, the 98. 5 E. St. Louis and the 03 was made in Mexico. The Mexican is the best of the bunch and has, by far, the best fit and finish yet. Just tellin' it like it is :) .

96 was St Louis. 04 Mexico. If I had a choice I would buy nothing made outside of the USA by UNION labor. Doc ;)

My '97 was built in Mexico. Best truck I've owned to this point. :D I've put over 50k on this thing, and has been relatively trouble free. Oo. 190k now.

Doc,

With all due respect, if there was as much widespread pride in the US worker as there used to be I would wholeheartedly agree with you. As it stands, I'll take a quality foreign product over a mediocre domestic one. All my opinion of course.

Mexico trucks

I thought until last year that all the Quad/Extended cabs were built in Mexico, could be wrong though. Ken Irwin

My Dodge was made in Mexico. I've been looking for a "made in Mexico" badge for the grille! My most trouble -free truck was made in the USA - my wife's Toyota Tundra 4WD. Talk about an upside down world!!!

90% of the 3g 2500/3500 are built in Mexico, the STL plant had a couple of HD's got through the line a couple of years ago, but they where pretty much walked down the line since they where "special"... The last I heard STL plant was tooling up to include the 2500/3500's in the line with the 1500's. Just to let you know the Mexico plant had the highest quality rating of the three truck lines.

Hey you youngsters, I was working in a Detroit auto plant (Cadillac) MAKING cars from 1957 thru '68. :D Wish I had kept some of the late 30's thru 50's vehicles I owned. I likely have Kids older than most of you. :-laf

my 01 3500 was one of them, I asked for the thing to come from there. as for the union made yes I am with you. union proud worker from the auto trans plant most bash here. ;)

I'm on my third Ram/Cummins; my 98. 5 and 01. 5 were assembled in St. Louis, my present 04 came from Mexico. All three were/are top notch. I had only one very minor warranty issue with one of the trucks--otherwise, they never saw a dealer's service area! No rattles or squeaks. No paint issues. Nothing!BTW, I've also owned other brands. The Rams are the most trouble-free vehicles I've ever owned.
