and one output shaft :-laf :-laf :-laf . Made 10 passes at test n tune and broke on the 11th launch, 20 psi +/-. Truck was running pretty good though, 13. 16 @100. 7mph, weighed 7300 with me in it at the local rock quarry that morning.

Owww, that looks like it hurt. What transmission you have? By the way, good #'s, probably quicker than mine, guess I'm probably around 14 flat. Quick enough for the camaros and mustangs around here anyway, Oh, and an Integra last week:D

Give me a shout sometime i am not very far from you at all and would be willing to help work on stuff and drink beer. :-laf

I swear I used up a good 1/4 tank in the span of 10 miles or so on I94 in chicago toying with a ricer in and out of traffic, numerous 60-105 runs.

When all said and done I said to the GF "where did down town chicago go? it was It was just over there!..... CRAP! I know I had a 1/4 tank more fuel then this!"

Sorry, i forgot to mention this is Dodge's output shaft, Not DTT's.

When i built the trans i used DTT's master kit, billet input, tc, and vb. I decided to leave the stock output shaft for this very reason. It was my understanding that when the output shaft broke, usually no other damage, and that's what i got. I almost called Stephan and ordered the billet, but then i wonder what breaks next? This wasn't too bad to change and no other damage to the trans. Only bad part was finding out that my truck won't fit my car hauler (too wide) :-laf , so i have a trailer everyone can use but me

I had it swapped out monday night by 11pm with another stocker and no other damage that i could tell. The broken piece in the T-case slid right out and the clutches in the OD unit were in perfect condition. Minor fragments of the shaft in bottom of the OD unit, i cleaned it up good and put it back together. Drives just like it did before, if i can get another two years and 100 passes on this one ;) i'll be ok with that. I am shooting for a little more power, so if this shaft becomes more frequent i will have to upgrade.

It's time to service the trans too, but i can't get the drain plug out of the mag pan. 3/16 hex  so far i have broken two craftsman and twisted one lyle like a dishrag. I picked a socket up from Snapon today... . try again tonight, otherwise i'll drop the whole pan and make a mess like the factory pan does anyway.

Dave

Dave, you could find a spare O/D section, build it and carry it with you. intermediate shaft would be next and it takes allot of stuff with it.

Snapon Rules :D

Jim,

I picked up a spare o/d unit from a friend, just in case ;) I haven't gone through it yet, but i'll get it ready and have a back up.

I have had the same problem with the diff covers. Try smacking it with a brass punch and hammer. dont go crazy here, not trying to break anything, just shock the threads a bit. I then used a snap on impact driver and it came right out. I put neverseize on when putting it back in.

Well I broke the stocker again tonight  I should have known better than to use the OE again. I got a 913 pump set up and put on monday night and went down to try it out. Snapped on the 5th pass.

Finally broke 12's though Oo. ... . 12. 91 @ 104. 06 truck weighed 7280lbs. I set the 913 exactly the same as my 911 was. Same dv's, same gsk, same plate, same timing, i even used the same afc housing. trying to compare the two as best i could. The difference is big, and before, with the 911, i could clean up to a gray haze. Not with the 913, you couldn't see the track behind me. Picked up 4 mph with the 913 pump. I wanted to play with the tuning some, but wound up on the trailer early.

I'll call DTT and get a billet shaft ordered and be done with this and on to the next failure.

Dave

i wonder if its better to break the out put shaft than to have it hold and break the intermidiate? also do you have a dtt billet input shaft?

Better to break the output shaft, usually no other damage. I've been told the intermediate shaft takes a lot of stuff with it when it breaks. I've run DTT's billet input since i built the trans about 2 yrs ago. I just got back together last night with a billet output shaft and billet flywheel.

Here is a pic of DTT's billet output compared to the two piece oem :-laf

sweet. . i just ordered a goerends transmission about five minutes ago and went with a billet flex plate, and input but stock intermediate and output to use as a "fuseable link" but i had numerous 15-20 psi launches on stock shafts and never had a problem. . guess i was just lucky. nice times
