Does anybody have a Solar Hot Water setup - for home????

Al, if I can scrape together enough coin I want to put the waste oil furnace in so we could do a small test there before trying to run it in our trucks. And yes, you can probably twist my arm into trying it in the '96 but not in the '05 at least until its out of warranty ;)

I assume the difference in how much oil my two trucks will swallow is due to the amount of air they can move. I'm sure the 01. 5 moves a lot more air through the motor than the 92!

I wonder why your 01. 5 is able to have such a high concentration compared to your 92 ? I wouldn't think the added electronics would make a difference. Does your 01. 5 have a cat on it? Maybe the 24 valve just atomizes and burns it more efficiently?? I may do some testing with my 96 when warm weather returns.

The newer the truck, the higher the injection pressure (and yes, atomization). It does not work as well on the "first generation" trucks as on the "P-pump" equipped ones. I have thankfully never had any experiances with the "VP pump" ones. I am hesitant to try it on my common rail engine. I have easy access to spare P7100 componets and injectors. I have run as many as 6 gallons of used engine oil in my '96. It actually smokes LESS with the oil in the fuel than with just diesel. It does not clog the filter any more than just diesel. I use only GOOD oil from my own engines and from propane powered forklifts I service on a regular (every 200 hours or less) basis. I use Rotella T in everything I service. Have been running used engine oil in my '96 and in my '98 work truck for over a year now with no problems and 206,000+ miles on the '96, 156,000+ miles on the '98. If engine oil is good enough to lubricate all the close tolerances on our engines, the added lubricity has got to be good for the pump and injectors. It also seems to HELP emissions in my case! Plus, its FREE fuel!

I second that dieselnut59. I think that injection pressures are the key there. The test mule I'm going to start with is a ford 6. 9. If I can get a decent burn from that worn out pig then I i'll try it in my 97. I'm going to experiment with thinning the oil with a little gas like ten to one, then maybe 50-50 mixture to diesel.

I got the perfect collection tank. Its a square plastic tank that holds almost 300 gallons and is enclosed in a metal frame with a pallet like base. I just need to figure out how to patch the cracks in one of the top corners. Would a fiberglass repair kit work? The kits I'm thinking of have a mesh type cloth and a bunch of glue that would be layered over the bad spot.

If you get to North Dakota, I will give you a dozen( or more) of those plastic tanks that fit in those cages. For FREE Oo. . I use the cages and don't need the plastic tanks. BTW, they hold 250 gal.

I doubt it will work well with the 6. 9L. By what I understand, the injection pressures on those were even lower than the "VE" pump Cummins. I do not have the specifics, but injection pressures have gone WAY up since those early 80's diesels. Your '97 will handle it well. The P7100 pump will inject about anything that will flow through it! I have done the burnt motor oil thing, kerosene and fuel oil, all with no problems. I have put as many as 6 gallons in with a half a tank of fuel, so I figure 10 gallons of 15-W40 will be fine with a full tank.

I have a great source of oil and am going to set up a good way to filter it and utilize it.

A friend of mine with a VP motor tried a 50/50 mix of Rotella 15-40 and diesel. He thought it smoked too much, so he cut back to "only" 40% used oil in his fuel. He says it runs and starts fine. I have never ridden with him, but I have been around when he started it and drove away. It sounded normal and smoke was very minimal.

I don't think I would recommend such a heavy dose of oil, but it is working for him...
