used transmission, what it worth

What do all of you think would be a fair price for a used but in good shape 2wd 518?

Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market lists used 518s for $600 - $800 that are described as "good shape".



The salvage yard transmission probably will come with a 30 day guarantee, which may be worth a little more than a private party.



If you are swapping one in to a 3-speed auto truck, you may want the computer/controller, steering column and other items.



So IMO, I would start in the $600 - $800 range, maybe more if you can drive it first, and or good maintenance records are produced.



This could be way off if these things are rare or very common, or if they are all shot and rebuild parts are scarce.
