Hi Guys,
I just closed on a new (to me) 2018 3500 Laramie. I am contemplating putting a warranty on it - not through dealer though. The truck has 53k miles on it and drives/run perfect. Anyone else decided to do this and if so, what level of protection and with which company. I get in the end this is my decision, just would like to hear from experiences from others. CarChex and Endurance seem to be the leaders in the club house.

Thanks,
Scott.

Thanks Cummins…
Yep, I recognize the power train warranty is still in effect. I’ll check into the MaxCare warranty. That one has not come up on my radar.
Scott.

The dealership I bought from has offered me a customized CNA policy for $3900 and change. I have not accepted or rejected to this point. I am sampling what is available. I have had good luck with other policies not issued through the dealerships. What CNA (dealership) is offering has similar (perhaps like) coverage for a longer duration (7 years) aligned with my typical miles per year than the MaxCare, We put on about 5k-6k miles per year on our truck.

MaxCare wants $3640 for 3 year, 45K. This is underwhelming to me for the price and duration.

I bought my warranty for my 04 back in 2010 when I bough it with 92k on the clock... it was 2 years / unlimited miles and it was a FCA warranty (not 3rd party). 100$ deductible and cost me about $1500.... It was long enough coverage to ferret out any issues / reasons why the truck was traded in and not too much cost. Well worth it IMHO as it paid to replace both front ujoints and bearings, seat assembly (when a motor went out), turbo, injectors (3) drive line joints, center support, etc.. several seals..... and never cost me more than a deductible.. which is way cheaper than 1h of shop time

My dealer wanted to sell me garbage for a warranty. I have already been around the block with "Go anywhere" warranties. How about I take it to the dealer who can figure out if it's the Powertrain warranty billed to RAM or something else billed to MOPAR. I had to about pull teeth to get the finance kickback guy off the garbage. The Zeigler MOPAR online quote I did in front of him and made em come close enough to matching it.

Wasting the shop's and my time to prove a 'covered' radiator that cracked and let loose wasn't the 'excluded' plastic expansion tank is the Clown Show you may experience with 'other products' as I detail:

So far the MOPAR warranty has paid for rentals/loaners when available.

Just today took delivery of a 2500 Promaster Van and was quoted over $4200 for MaxCare. I declined but I did pick up a decent deal on 10 oil changes, it's a fleet truck and figure will lock in some service as it will be a remote use vehicle and if it's paid for hopefully they use it up.

But the finance guy called me and said your not going to believe this but the warranty I paid for in Dec is much more money.... this is my 5th vehicle since Dec with these folks so they are pretty straight with me.

When I bought my 2010 with 55k miles on it I bought an extended warranty. At around 65k miles transmission took a dump and needed replaced. Has it replaced at the ram dealer. That job paid for the warranty. Also sprung an oil leak on the front gear case cover. Had my mechanic run though the truck and had the seal, water pump, idler, belt, coolant, and batteries replaced under warranty. Overall it paid for itself. When the warranty was about up I took it to my mechanic and had him go through the truck again. Had a couple ball joints replaced and got those covered as well. Overall the warranty saved me a lot of money. It’s been a good truck. Now have 108k miles on it and keep up with scheduled maintenance and just recently had to replaced the rear wheel hub seal. Did that myself. Easy and cheap job.
