Fifth Wheel Campers for wheelchair users ??

5th wheel to gooseneck

My wife and I love to travel, especially to auctions such as building material auctions. We usually pull a 24' flatbed and if we don't buy anything we're out a lot of money with fuel prices the way they are. Does anyone know anything about uShip - The Online Shipping Marketplace - Ship Freight, Furniture, Vehicles or Moves or the hauling schedule on Antique Tractors - Yesterday's Tractors : Antique Tractor Headquarters ? Seems like a good way to offset fuel costs. Any thoughts on this? Is it safe?

All kinds of people over there looking to move their "stuff", for lack of a word I can't use here, for next to nothing. . or less. Plus if you want to risk getting all YOUR stuff, plus theirs confiscated when DOT pulls you over for who knows what and they see you're are getting "paid" in one form or another, then by all means, yeah, go for it !!! ;)

I made contact with a local guy thru U-Ship to haul a car down to TX and it worked out fine. I called him and he picked it up a couple days later and it was there in a few days. This is all after I had first contacted A1 Car Haulers and watched the car sit here for a month while they did nothing.

I'm using U-Ship next time I have to have something moved.

Thanks for both the comments. Now I'm REALLY not sure whether to try it or not. One point against and one point for.

I used Yesterdays Tractor this spring. I had a cherry '57 Ford offset out to CA and some subsoilers back to KY. If you get stopped you are moving it for family. If I did another trip like that I will not think twice about using YT again.

And what would you do if something got damaged while it was "in your care"? What did those 2 loads pay?

Considering hotels and fuel are already paid for and the first time I have hauled ANYTHING the total was $1600 both ways

Once again, see first question in my post above ... . 1600 for what amounts to 2 cross country runs, no wonder legit people like me have trouble getting what we need!!#@$%!

I just ran Ohio to Maine to California to Ohio and had a little over $12,000 left after fuel and expenses. Most trips are $500 - $800 a day after expenses, this one came out close to $1,000 @ 12. 5 days.

Need to find you a niche Mark, like million dollar collector cars, pianos etc

Not bad...

... crawled out of bed at 430, took a shower, ate breakfast, loaded a mail truck on my 20' trailer last night( post office is 2. 9 miles around corner)... went to Ely Nv. , 257 miles, unloaded, loaded another,. had breakfast #2, came back to Vegas, dropped and walked in my front door at 245. $500 each way, I could get by with 4 of those a week, plus just sold one of my trailers also. :-laf After expenses and exactly 12 hours of my time today... $2250 in my pocket! :)

THess: In addition to Uship and ytmag.com, also look at craigslist.com (rideshare) and nwbombers.com(Forums, then scroll down to Bombers Express). On craigslist in "rideshare" you can search by state and then by city; among all the "rides wanted," and "share expenses to the 'frappin concert" ads you'll find an occasional ad wanting something moved or towed. On Bombers Express (a TDR regional club) you'll find people wanting things moved or towed, although it's mainly limited to the Pacific NW, but now always. My trouble has been that I always seem to be about 300 miles past the pickup location when I finally see the ad.

JWChessel, thanks for the extra web sites. I'll look into them. I'm not wanting to put anyone out of a job, I'm just looking to help defray the costs of taking trips. I'm sure that there are still plenty of people out there that just want a professional hauler. The people on ytmag and uship would probably move the stuff themselves before hiring a pro anyway.
