OK you Guys - how come Uncle is selling these trucks

How old is this 'Brand New Looking" Detroit

Okay, I know that a lot of you have done this already. I want to run 255's on my truck, but that can't happen unless I replace the rims or use a spacer.

The spacer being the cheaper of the two choices, is there a significant downside to doing this?

I have spacers on mine and would do it again. A lot of people worry about them and say they are dangerous. If they have a one ton, I tell them to look at their front axles. Guess what? The factory installs spacers on every one ton dually they sell. If it works for the factory, it's good enough for me.

There are some things to look out for. I'm assuming y-knot will fill you in.

Sorry, I was on a road trip. I do run the 255-85-16's on the rear and I use a 1 1/4" spacer. I was pretty cautious at first, but after several tire removals and examinations, I got to trust them just fine. I have had this set for going on 4 years now and not a hint of trouble, just torque them like you would any normal wheel lug, and tighten them down in stages in a criss-cross pattern. I went to www.performancewheel.com for the spacers. good luck.
