dose anyone use cruse pulling ? I have noticed excessive shifting pulling on hills even on a slight incline. 2014 3500 aisin trans. Any fix ?

I use it on mostly level terrain. If it has to shift once in a while, I have no problem with that. If it is constantly shifting, then it's time to either turn off cruise, lockout 6th....or both.

A lot of folks have many self-imposed arbitrary rules they follow when they tow.....I on the other hand, do not. I base my driving settings (or whatever you want to call it) on the current conditions...using the gray matter.

Like others have said, lock out 6th or use cruise and override with additional throttle with your foot and back off at the top of the hill to meet the set speed works... all while leaving the cruise on and set.

The Aisin will hold the gear longer when using the pedal vs. the cruise control, even when engaged if you override with more throttle. With a little practice the technique above works well.

Tow in 5th with 3.42's. Cruise is not an issue.

We went thru this not long ago, Not an issue, what, towing on the salt flats in Utah. I don't think its smart period to tow on cruise in the mountains . I want the input ,not the the cruise control.

Sure if its hunting fifth ,and sixth lockout sixth, but thats it. Any kind of grade if I think will shift to fourth the cruise is coming off. I want to decide how hard I want to hit the hill .

I tow a 14K trailer in the mountains with the cruise control on. I have the tow/haul on and the exhaust break and I have no problems. My truck has 410 gears.

I tow in cruise ALL the time mountains or flat lands. I select the gear I would have came up the grade for descending with zero issues. If i see I am going to drop a gear with a grade in front of me a simple push of the rocker drops a gear and the speed does not drop.

With my 11 HO it was best overall to lock out 6th towing a combined 28-29k with 3.42's.

I posted this earlier in 2017.

"I had these done on my 2015 back in January. I believe the third one and the last one fixed the hunting between gears on small hills.

TSB 21-004-16 TCM
TSB 05-013-15 ABS
TSB 08-017-17 BCM
TSB 18-037-16 PCM
"

After these TSBs when it shifts down from 5th to 4th on a small hill, it holds 4th until I crest the him. This is towing at 60 MPH in 5th at 24,500 combined. In Tow haul with 3.42 and Aisin it will not shift to 6th until 65 MPH. I tow with 6th locked out mostly for down hill EB use.

Today I had the trailgate and park interlock TSB done and this did TSB 18-015-18, to see if that helped with the cruise control issue. However we will not be at an elevation to know for quit a while. Maybe next year at this time.

SnoKing, can we just make an appointment to get this update done or do we have to have had issues in order to get the update?

This one says: MODELS: 2015 (DJ) RAM 2500 Pickup 2015 (D2) RAM 3500 Pickup

By the way I was a Coasty ET-1 USCG 1965-1969.

Thanks SnoKing, I have zero issues with mine and it's a 16 so I wont' worry about it.

Nice to see another Coasty on here, I was an AT/AVT/AET (they kept changing the name of our rate) and did 30 fantastic years.

I swear the truck is running smoother and the mileage may be up! Placebo effect????

Did you get to fly much, or just work on the electronics in the hanger. I grew up in Port Angeles, did you ever serve there? SnoKing
