Took a chance on this purchase and it worked! Had my Garmin GPS on the left hand side of steering wheel on the dash and it always wasn't that stable. Got this from Genos; https://www.genosgarage.com/product/edge-38602-cts3-a-pillar-mount/gauge-mounts5. It fit the Garmin mounting to a T! Rock solid mounting point for a GPS or even a phone if your not using an Edge. Just wanted to pass along this finding as it might help someone else with mounting options.

Finally snapped pic to show how it looks.

Do you have any issue with the sun overheating it? I have my '01 mounted just below the dash to keep it out of the sun. When I used the windshield mount it would overheat and shut off. Same with my Edge monitor. I have to shield it with a paper plate and a ball cap to help hold it there:D

My '21 I keep portable, when I use it I just set it in the top dash cubby and take it down when I park.

I forgot to take my dash cam down several years ago and I cooked it. Had to buy a new one.

So far 2 years and no issues, but I do have 3M tint on the windshield that cut UV and heat without it being darker! It went through our state inspection with no issues and have had many law enforcement around and in truck with no questions. No, they went searching the truck! LOL I've used my car trailer to help them move the cars/trucks to shops for repair or restorations. @NIsaacs, you could use a piece of that bubble foil insulation to shield them from that SW sun, even tin foil around a paper plate would provide better protection then just the plate your using. There's also some fabric that I had gotten at JoAnn's store that is used to make hot pads. I used it to insulate a water back pack. It's got fluff with a foil like barrier in it. That way, you would have the bright reflection and could cover with another fabric of your choice. I think this is what I got; https://www.joann.com/pellon-975-insul-fleece-interfacing-45/15653967.html. Just another idea that could help.

I recently changed trucks to a '24 from a '17. I was using the EDGE pillar cowling mount for my CTS3 on the '17, but switched to the pillar arm mount for the CTS3 in the '24. Super solid, looks great. No issues with sunlight/heat in the last 12 or so years of using the CTS units ( I live in SoCal, and spend a lot of time in the desert SW). Nice to know I can put my Garmin unit on there if I want.
