I am waiting for the EMS kit to come out with a kit for my 96 with ABS and have a hub bearing out. I have an extra axle with good hub w/o ABS. Can I use this hub until the EMS kit is available? I know a ABS light will be on, but think the brakes should would work fine.

I would like to know also as I would like to put Dyna Trac manual locking hubs on my 97' 3500 4x4 but the application says non ABS only.

It will work. The hubs will bolt up no problem. You will have an ABS light like you said, and the ABS will not function, but the brakes will function fine. It would be like one of your ABS sensors is out, ABS light, brakes still work. The stock ABS hubs have the tone ring in the hub. From what I've seen from EMS Off Road's web site I think their kit will have the tone ring on the back of the hub. I thought their '94-'99 ABS kit was ready back in September 2006. That's what their website says. I'm thinking about getting their kit. There has been some good revues of it on PavementSucks.com -Glen

I called Dyna Trac about their outfit for trucks with tone rings. They said, and I quote. "There were not enough of our trucks made with ABS out of those years to make up another kit to fit the offset of the tone rings. " (which is about 3/4 of an inch) And that "they don't recommend using their non ABS version with ABS because you are disconnecting a piece of safety equipment and could have legal ramifications. " So I am looking at EMS right now to get their kit.

I should have given a little more information. I talked to Eric from EMS yesterday. He has been getting interest on the 94-99 with ABS. It does not sound like there were very many trucks sold this way. I mentioned I had a hub unit go out over the weekend. He informed me that he has gotten enough interest lately that he was going to give the go ahead to get the tone rings produced. The non-ABS hub he is selling will be used in the ABS kit with the addition of the wiring and sensor. He told me that these kits should be ready in about three weeks. To answer the other post, yes, I do have a tone ring on my 96 Ram. I don't want to spend $400 + for an ABS hub to get by for 3-4 weeks. I am going to get by with a used hub I have. Worse case, I have two good used non ABS hubs from my spare axle to get me by until the kit is available. The right side hub has been replaced within the last 6 months. I hope this helps anybody else out waiting on the ABS kit from EMS.
