Have a customer with 97 12valve, is using lot of oil.

Blowing most of it out the blowby hose.

Oil all down the truck and all the cars he passed.

He said this started to happen after he had Injector pump

replace 2 years ago. He beleives the shop didn't set timing.

Maybe scored piston???

The truck was started this morning and I put my hand under the blowby

tube. You could feel the alot of blowby just for idling I thought.

I don't have another truck to compare to.

He said that if he pulling his trailer he uses very little oil.

But if no load used 1 qt. in 300 miles and the truck is soaked with oil under it.

Has preformance injectors and gauges and said he's never egts. get to high.

Has 240k miles,

Thanks William White

If you are getting a lot of air out the blowby at idle check to see if there are any vacuum leaks. Reason being, the vacuum pump exhausts its air into the engine crankcase, which then flows out the blowby tube. If it's dumping tons of air in there it will carry significant amounts of oil vapor out the tube and cause high oil consumption.
