Hey guys! I finally got my truck started. It turned out that the ecm I sent to goecm was no good. They fixed the few things they found wrong but never looked into it further. I sent it back to have them recheck it and they found it had lost its memory. My question now, is will my smarty work on the ecm they sent me? I had it programed into the ecm that went bad, so I don't know if it will work on the new ecm. The truck is at a shop, having a couple other things done, so I have not had a chance to try it. If it wont work what do I need to do to reset it? Thanks

Thats what I thought, but Bob Wagner said it will work. I told him that it was in the old ecm when it fried and he said it doesn't matter, I will be all set. Find out when I get the truck back, I guess. Thanks again!

So the VIN# must be programed to the new ECM already.

Otherwise the Smarty will not work with the new ECM. :)

The ECU's are VIN locked to the truck and the rest of the controllers. If you put an ECM without the correct VIN in there, the truck will not start.

When you send an ECU into to be fixed or replaced you have to give them the truck VIN to program it or it won't work.

Since this is probably a new program load I would set it back to stock then reload the Smarty to make sure the changes get loaded correctly. As long as Smarty can match the VIN in the ECU to what it has stored it is happy.
