you could also buy a grease kit for your truck. basically includes a tank to hold the grease, a heater, a pump to move it to fuel pump, etc. Last time I looked, was about 1100 to get setup. go here to read all about these kits. . http://www.greasecar.com

I was going to outfit my truck with something like this, but i do a lot of 15-20mile trips and the engine doesn't get hot enough to burn grease long enough to make much sense (for me, imo. . ).

Wvo

I plan to run my 12 valve on WVO. Making biodiesel is a much more involved process than simply converting your truck to run on WVO. I move around allot so it would be impractical for me to make biodiesel.

To run WVO you have to heat the oil to 160 degrees for the engine to run right. The oil must be filtered very well. Talk to the restaurants. From what i hear, they are more than happy to let you pump from their tanks into your truck. It saves them money.

WVO has a higher innitial investment. You must have 2 tanks, one for oil, one for #2. I can go into much deeper detail, but as was mentioned above, there is an alternative fuels forum. There are at least a dozen companies offering conversion kits that i can think of of the top of my head. Do ALLOT of research first. Make sure you get what you want as you will have to change fuel filters often. Do it right & you'll be happy.

Usually its converted to biodiesel. Try the 'Alternative Fuels' forum.

There is no "conversion" to run biodiesel. Just pump it in your fuel tank and run it. But the kits mentioned above are definitely needed to run waste veggie oil.

guys around here run it 70 diesel 30 veg just put a rag over the veg poor into a drain bucket then into truck. no problems dont run in winter it will jell up

OMG..... a rag?

You better filter down to 10 microns or better. Used veggie oil is completely loaded with BCB's (Burnt Crispy Bits) some that you cannot see, so unless you like like changing fuel filters often.....

When its hot out I've run 60+% veggie and the rest B100 or #2 . But you probably shouldn't for long periods. You really want the WVO to be around 160 degrees. I've had no problems so far. When I pull the head I'll see if there is any carbon buildup. YMMV obviously.

I've ordered the kit from Frybrid about $2,200. The 91 gallon secondary tank hasn't shown up yet.

You will need a conversion kit if you wish to run B100 year around if it gets cold enough to snow where you live. But you will only need to heat it 60 degrees or so

I am excited about veggie oil fuel, but it seems to me that as soon as a few of us get converted, the availability of used veggie oil will disappear, maybe it has already. Has anyone found they have to compete for the waste veggie oil already?

I have posted this before but until I get the parts and time to do a complete SVO conversion I am Running 10 gallons of #2 and 15 gallons of filtered WVO at each fill up and 8 Oz of power service. No problems. This is on my 92 and 93. In my 01 I'm running 50/50.

Any problems with clogged filters initially when running it? Fuel and/or fuel strainers?

Maybe adding a prefilter with a small heater would work. . hmm would have to have a lift pump... hmm

Anyone try to contact the local waste disposal guys that service the big fast food chains? I wonder what they do with all that oil. . hmmmmmmmmmmm
