Just curious if any of you who ordered the Ute bumpers through the special deal in April have received them yet since it's been about 8 weeks. If so, how was installation, etc.

A little teaser for you guys.....

Back when this special deal started, in the middle of trading email back and forth with Randy he offered me the prototype bumper they had sitting in Seattle for trade shows and such regardless of what happened with the time-limited offer. Needless to say I was pretty happy when the order #'s were met so I did not become the subject of a mass lynching :). He gave me the choice again after the deadline was met to wait for one coming across the water or take the one he had-took all of 15 seconds to figure that one out!

It's been on my truck now since May 1..... absolutely no complaints. Installation is easy-I did it by myself! As recommended by Randy, I split the aluminum part of the bumper from the steel mounts-then each one can be handled fairly easily. The steel part has adjustments 6 ways from Sunday to allow you to fit the bumper perfectly to the truck. Because of the Sport grille on my truck and its subsequent intrusion into bumper space, I had to set my bumper as far ahead as I could-not a problem with the design of the mount.

Haven't had to use the receiver hitch yet-looks super strong and I'm sure it is!

Here's some pics to whet your appetite:

These pics are pretty small so they'll upload fast-I have the original ones still but they are huge (2048x1536)!

NICE looking set-up. They look like they were built strong. If I did not have the TJM I just might get one. Since TJM don't ship to America anymore, if something happens to it I just might have to get one.

I do like it lgibson-amazing what a bumper replacement will do to the looks of the truck. Can't believe how many people have commented after the install "Jeez that truck is big!"-when nothing changed other than the bumper. Mostly women-must look menacing compared to a Cavalier :D ! It's 3/8" thick aluminum-and the steel bracketry is also 3/8" thick. The grille guard part is bolted to the bumper-still super-strong though.

Kev-if I donated it to you I'd have to find something I liked better to replace it-and so far I haven't. Really like the extruded steps in the bottom-I think that sets it out from the rest of the pack. I haven't had anybody say anything negative about it so far-but I have had 1 guy chase me down on the road to find out where to get one and how much it was worth.

Those pics are in the bumper's original state as received to me from Ute as well-I laid a little Mother's aluminum polish to the uprights and upper tube today and WOW! Better shine yet-I can see myself in the uprights! Way too shiny for a work truck..... it's gonna take me a full day before the Diesel Dyno Stampede to shine the old girl up!

Jason, I could have had that bumper a few months earlier when it was in Florida at the truck show.

The price was more though.

So you actually got to see one in the flesh before you committed to ordering eh Eric? I went on blind faith..... so far so good. Did it have the receiver hitch in it then?

I have to get off my butt and send pics now to Raven (the Alberta dealer) and Ute I guess.

No, I didnt actually see it, my local dealer was going to the 4x4 show, I think it was in Tampa.

He told me that Randy said it would be sold the the first person with cash. I hesitated not because of the deal you worked up (this was way before that) but because I had no way to get it to here from there. I would have bought it and payed the shipping but my dealer told me he still had to charge me tax. If he would have waived the tax (out of state purchase dont require tax) I would have done it.

Price was $1625 + tax+ shipping.

If I got it just from him I would have saved the shipping.

The deal you hooked us all up with is much better!!:D

Eric

Two of the local 4X4 shops here in AK have UTE bumpers that fit Dodges. I don't understand how they got them but they have them... . and they want 2K for em. .

Jhansen,

Lucky dog, glad to hear the install was doable. Can't wait for my ship to come in. It's funny to think of it passing Hawaii to the north and then having to be shipped back west to me.

Thanks for the pictures.

Yeah tell me about it... . Jason sure does like rubbing that bumper in doesn't he... LMAO

(Sorry J... I couldn't resist :D :D )

No hard feelings Kev! I'm proud of pretty much everything on my truck-I have high standards and would rather pay a few more $$$ to get exactly what I want than settle for something substandard. Exclusions being the full stainless tailgate protector and the POS Deezee aluminum rail caps-both have proved to be less than stellar and will be going the way of the dinosaur before too much longer I hope.

Wonder how many other of them are floating around out there if there's 2 in Alaska? Should ask Randy sometime how many he originally had I guess-not that it much matters as in another month or so there'll be a ton more! :D

Almost everything that gets shipped goes through Anchorage, Ak. It isn't hard to see why they would get them. I went to American 4WD when it was still in Anchorage, and looked through some catalogs and foung a picture of the TJM. I asked about the cost and shipping. They are built in Australia. I paid $1500 with the winch plate and free shipping. Not bad at all. After almost 4 years and 150,000 miles it still looks good and has handled two rockslids, a couch falling out of a pu in front of me at about 45 mph, many deer and elk. Only one small ding from the rock slide from a beachball size rock.
