Attention: TDR Forum Junkies 
Ok, first I want to let you know that this is a true story. I would have no reason to make this up at all. . Recently me and my buddy who has a ford 1 ton crew cab dually,V10,2x4,auto with 4. 30 gears have been taking turns towing a trailer to armagosa valley to play in the sand pits. . Trailer was loaded with four quads and I estimate the wieght about 3500-4000 Lbs. I pulled it one week then him the next week. Here are the results. I was able to pull the trailer at 75 mph in sixth gear and never had to downshift and got 11. 6 mpg on the computer. (see my sig). 
He towed the same load next week,However his truck downshifted three times from overdrive to direct while trying to maintain 75mph. His rpms jumped up to around 3200. Finally he dropped it down to 65mph and the truck seemed to do a little better. His final mileage was 8. 5 mpg. (cant verify the mileage, this is what he told me). I just love my cummins more and more. Deep down I think he does to
