A friend of mine has a 2000, auto, 3500 with a utility body on it. He wants to try a VA. Will the additional HP be to much strees on a stock trans?

Because I own a manual, I have never read the auto problem posts (even though I used to overhaul auto's for 10 years!)

Towpro

Not a problem, i have had my VA on for 7K miles and tow a 32' 5th wheel. The extra power is a big help in towing. I have since added a DTT VB and 245 injectors. Makes towing a dream.

TowPro, if your buddy has a truck that has low or marginal line pressure in the transmission from the factory the VA can and will slip the TC lockup clutch. If it does adjust the line pressure and it will hold the VA fine. As the other guys have said it will be hard to get the VA back.

TP I ran my 99 3500 auto with the VA pulling pretty heavy and no problems. If you hammer it from every stop light then you will most certainly shorten the life of your auto... ... Pete
