My VA has bit the dust. I bought it used over a year ago. I thought I could at least get it repaired, so I called the N. American distributor out in Washington which is BD Engine Brake. Rest assured, this is one owner that will not be purchasing BD or VA unless somebody from that place changes an attitude. The person there in customer service told me that, if you didn't buy it new from one of their distributors, it doesn't get fixed. What if that were the case with appliances or automobiles. Just charge me for labor and parts and fix it. That's all I asked them to do. After all the ones I've recommended because I like the product so much, I'm embarrassed to own one now.

By the way BD, I'm one of the Reserves called up to active duty because of last weeks attacks on New York. The box failed when I left home to run some final errands on Friday after being called up. I'm wanted you to know how much I appreciate this on top of being called up for an indefinite (to start with) period of time.

that is total BS !!!

Alan, Try getting the original owner to get the warranty claim for you.

I too bought mine used and CharlieP. told me he would cover the warranty as being the original owner.

Best of luck in the future Alan.

Regards,

Bob

Sounds like someone just didn't want to bother:rolleyes:

Contact your local BD dealer. I am sure they will help you out or better yet, give Ted Jennetty a call. Ted will give you the straight poop:D

I did try VA direct. No answer. Problem with contacting original owner is, right now I don't have access to phone numbers, emails, etc that I normally have. That's why I'm so PO'd at the response I got. I didn't ask them to repair it for free. I told the guy I will pay for the repair. See why I'm so angry. Hey, I want be here forever. If I can't settle this while I'm on active duty, I'll pick me up an EZ when I get home or maybe sooner. I just really liked how smooth the VA was. I don't like being treated like crap when I'm at a big disadvantage though. I would have bought a new one but at the time had never owned one and got a reasonable deal on the one I bought at a SETDR get together. Realizing that was the situation, that's why I told the guy I would pay. I didn't feel like I had a warranty claim. See why I'm PO'd?

I wanted a clean entry so I'll make a new post. I was in contact with Chris at BD. No repair is available but he is trying to see what they can do with maybe one of the same model that I have. At least that is some different attitude about customer service. Sorry I vented on you guys. It's been a stressful few days if you know what I mean. Have a good one.

Hey Alan,

Thank you for serving your country and good luck. What branch of service are you in. I spent 29 years in the Naval Reserves and retired out in 97, wish I was 25 years younger I 'd be on my way with you. Thanks again. Tom

US Coast Guard. We are integrated into the active commands throughout the US. I guess I was one of the first called up based on news reports. That's why I was a "little" upset about this deal. With everything happening at once, it's a pain to have something that you trust to break down. I got an email back from VA about an hour ago. They are trying to help. He!!, I don't want sympathy, I want my truck back to what I'm used to.

Alan,

Sorry to hear about the VA man I bet mine is on borrowed time. I bought it used also so I am very interested in what route you take as I cant be too far behind.

John
