I was wondering how long does vaccum pump last? I have a seal leak and am thinking of replacing the seal if I can locate one, NAPA has a rebuilt pump for 366. 00 and they could not tell me if it came with a seal/o ring kit. I have 546,000 miles on my 96 and so far just leaking. Rvpilot

Agreed, but...

Check out this thread, you can get the seal and o-ring for under $10 https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=39400

I'd buy an electric vacuum pump for a Ford for $79 before I'd spend anymore than that fixing up the OEM one.

If the OEM pump is not sucking any more then the Ford elec. vac. pump is an option, but if the OEM pump is working but has the oil seal leak then putting the elec. pump on will still leave you with a leaking, albeit inoperative, OEM pump. :(
