Anybody got a felpro or other aftermarket part number for the gasket that goes between the timing cover and the vacuum pump. The local autoparts store couldn't find it

Thanks

Thanks the nearest Cummins dealer appears to be 20 miles away so im trying to avoid them but I can probably hold off until the next time I go out that way. So I thank you but hope somebody has an aftermarket number.

Are they all steel? I changed out the front seal when i had the rad, i/c, and bumper off and cleaned everything up and discovered my oil leak is / looks like its coming from that gasket. if its definitely steel and reusable i'll pull it off clean it and rtv it

Gasket p/n 3008400 is not steel, but a black material. There are several different gaskets that Cummins has that will fit, some are steel with a rubber sealing ring on it. Some of them have a slightly different shape hole in them so watch carefully to make sure the inside hole is the correct size and shape. Shadrach

OK ill pick one up next time I pass the dealer Is there any way to know which one I have in the truck? The dealer is 20 miles away and I will be at the mercy of tghe wife once I pull it apart...

3008400 is the only one listed for our application ( 89-02 Dodges ). The others are for air compressor or hydraulic pump mounting in non-Dodge applications. Shadrach

Use that part number or give them you engine serial number or last seven of your vin number. Either one of those will point them in the right direction.

Picked up 2 (one spare) today $6 each +- made out of fiber gasket material. Ordered a new FIW sensor while I was there. Said he didnt mind keepin it on the shelf till I came back that way in another 2 or 3 weeks.

Thank you

You might check real good to see if your vacuum pump seal is leaking or even just wet. By changing out the mounting gasket you will be half way there (to change out the seal). Did you mean WIF?

The seal is good so I aint gonna touch it (Black Cloud follows me everywhere) Its definitely the pump gasket or maybe the cover gasket (where it mounts to the block not the thin cover) Yeah I guess I really don't need a fuel in water sensor but I Bet you BP coulda used one a while ago

I have had the best luck with RTV only in this area. I messed with my gasket more than I needed too due to the gear housing gasket leaking. It's very difficult to distinguish between the two as they are so close. I tightened the inside gear housing bolts and stopped that leak.

I have found a leak in that area that is not the seal is usually the gear housing gasket. As previous post says, the inside bolts need to be cleaned and reinstalled or sometimes just tightened a tad.
