Hm.....Thats what I thought. Mine is a 2002 built in mexico some time in 2001. It has the vacuum acctivated 4wd. Probably still using old parts. Those rascally mexicans. :)

There are a lot of things that were left off my truck. No blanket for under hood, no grab handle for drivers side A pillar, and no rear liner? forward of the wheel for keeping mud from splashing all over the rear underneath. Seems like there are a couple more things too.

CAD 4wd systems were from 98-02, and were discontinued for 2002. But...that said, if a 2001.5 or 2002 truck was equipped with or without the CAD was dependent on whatever the assembly line had at the time. Meaning, some 2001.5 trucks did not have the CAD because the factory where that truck was built ran out of them before they started on the 2002 models. And some 2002 came with the CAD simply because the factory still had them while that truck was on the assembly line.

Other items which were discontinued in 2002 were the rear inner fender liners, hood insulation, rear cup holders, painted radiators, and a couple other things I cant remember...

Our late 2001.5 Taco built in May 2001 had all those things. CAD. fender liners, hood insulation, grab handle, painted rad, vacuum cruise control.

Tractorat, do you have the vacuum cruise control? The vacuum cylinder is under the drivers side battery. It had to be built towards the end of August or later to be a 2002. What are the dates on the B Pillar tags?

August 2001. It is definitely a vacuum system. Just wondered when they stopped making them this way because I was told by a very reliable source that he had not seen an 02 with that system.

Same here. The wife's 2001.5 has all of the goodies that Dodge cheaped out on with the 2002 models. My 2002 does not have any of the above.

94-97 had the cad system also. The bean counters started on the 96's to remove various items to save a few pennies, pin striping for one and side molding and other mentioned other items.
