Sorry if I mess this up, first time posting. Own a 95' 2500 4wd regular cab with 47rh. A while back my ps/pb started to go on vacation, I would understand this if I had a hydroboost set up but my truck still uses the vacuum boost system. Currently I am cruising around with manual steering and brakes, the wierd thing is the pump is not groaning or growling at all. The only conclusion I can come up with is from what I've read, the vacuum pump and powersteering are not turning, is there a quick way to check this and is there anything else that would cause both systems to fail on this truck.

Thanks for any and all input.

It is possible if the vac-pump's drive gear is broken or the shaft key sheered. Try pulling a vacume line off with the engine running and see if it is drawing a vacume. If it has no vacume then pull the pump off and inspect the drive gear.

Thats what I was thinking but was wishing for something better, I'll be working on the truck on monday so I'll fill everyone in then.

On second thought, I'll try the stuck plunger theory (power steering pump) first just to see if I get the ps back, if so I'll know both pumps are at least turning and can trouble shoot from there, sure sounds like more fun than pulling the pumps.

If you pull the pump, you might at well go ahead and install new seals while it is off. It is not "that bad" of a job. We got the "reseal kit" from Gould Gear and also the extra seals for the other trucks--they work great
