2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Vacuum/Power steering pump

Will be doing the seals again and have a question. The seal that goes on the power steering shaft which way does it go. I didn't pay attention the last time when I did it. The seal has a spring in it or appeared to. Does the spring face the power steering pump or the vacuum pump. It is flat on one side and open on the other with the spring showing. Thanks in advance for the help.

I believe the spring faces the vacuum pump. That way, when you push the PS pump shaft through, you don't have to worry about folding the lip over. Also, oil pressure from the vacuum pump side will fill in to the gap where the spring is and improve the sealing qualities of the seal itself by squeezing around the PS pump shaft.



That's how I remember it, anyway!
